Iris 'Having Fun'

Iris sibirica 'Having Fun' has lovely, fully double blooms. Actually, it’s a hose-in-hose cultivar, where it has been bred to develop a second flower to grow up inside the first one! It has 12 or more petals (known as standards and falls) to each bloom. The overall colour of Iris 'Having Fun' is pinky lavender, with a suggestion of a paler edge. The petals, which have slightly wavy edges, also have intricate purple veining. Their colour changes, too, from lavender to white to golden yellow towards the centre of the flower. It is a beautifully extravagant cultivar!

Grown by gardeners consistently for almost 20 years, Iris sibirica 'Having Fun' is a mid-season Iris, meaning that it is at its best in late May and June. It reaches a height of around 75cm or so, which means it is a good front-of-border or patio container plant. Growing Siberian iris en masse will give your garden elegance and charm in late spring and early summer. Use them as a border background for other early spring bloomers. Although they perform best in a rich, fertile soil, Iris sibirica 'Having Fun' will also be fine in poor, hungry soil.
